Kontinuität und Wandel in einer schwierigen Beziehung

Zusammenfassung

Unter Präsident Trump scheinen sich die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika vom Völkerrecht und seinen Institutionen abzuwenden. Auch wenn manche Attacke sich bisher in einer aggressiven Rhetorik erschöpft, wird das ohnehin nicht konfliktfreie Verhältnis der USA zum Völkerrecht durch die aktuelle politische Entwicklung auf eine harte Probe gestellt. Der Beitrag ordnet diese Entwicklung in eine breitere historische Perspektive ein, wobei sowohl das Verhältnis der US-Außenpolitik zur Völkerrechtsordnung untersucht wird als auch die methodischen Besonderheiten der US-amerikanischen Völkerrechtslehre gewürdigt werden.
