Kontinuität und Wandel in einer schwierigen Beziehung

Zusammenfassung

Nach der turbulenten Amtszeit von US-Präsident Trump scheint sich das Verhältnis der USA zur Völkerrechtsordnung unter Präsident Biden wieder zu entspannen. Allerdings ist die US-amerikanische Position zum Völkerrecht inzwischen regelmäßig innerstaatlich einer erheblichen Politisierung ausgesetzt. Der Beitrag ordnet diese Entwicklung in eine breitere historische Perspektive ein, wobei sowohl das Verhältnis der US-Außenpolitik zur Völkerrechtsordnung untersucht wird als auch die methodischen Besonderheiten der US-amerikanischen Völkerrechtslehre gewürdigt werden.
