Zusammenfassung

Vitamin D ist ein Steroidhormon, das wie andere Steroidhormone als Secosteroid an den nukleären Vitamin-D-Rezeptor (VDR) bindet und dort die Transkription einer Vielzahl von Genen reguliert. Bei einer Störung des Vitamin-D-Stoffwechsels kann die Bildung, Resorption oder Wirkung von Vitamin D so verändert sein, dass laborchemische und ggf. klinische Symptome einen Vitamin-D-Mangel oder – als gegensätzliches Extrem – eine Intoxikation anzeigen.
