Zusammenfassung

Die Perikarditis ist eine entzündliche Erkrankung des Herzbeutels, die überwiegend fibrinös (Pericarditis sicca) oder exsudativ sein kann. Die Besonderheit dieser Erkrankung besteht darin, dass sie durch Ergussbildung zu einer Tamponade mit lebensbedrohlicher Beeinträchtigung der Herzfunktion führen kann. Auch das Narbenstadium einer Entzündung kann als konstriktive Perikarditis die Herzfunktion erheblich beeinträchtigen. Deshalb ist es wichtig, die Erkrankung frühzeitig zu diagnostizieren und entsprechend zu behandeln. Die Perikarditis ist häufig mit einer Myokarditis vergesellschaftet.
