Radiators that emit UV-A radiation together with very little visible radiation.
Ultraviolet Radiators and Blacklight Lamps
Many different ultraviolet radiators, based on both gas discharge lamp and light-emitting diode technologies, are produced for industrial applications such as photochemical processes, drying and hardening of materials, lithography, and reprography; for disinfection purposes and insect repellents; and for phototherapy and sun tanning. These radiators are available in types that radiate in the UV-A (wavelength range, 315–400 nm), UV-B (280–315 nm), and UV-C (100–280 nm) part of the spectrum. In the applications listed above, visual effects play no role. Another type of ultraviolet radiators is produced to make fluorescent substances in materials visible to the eye.
