Definition
Culture has also been defined according to various dichotomies, e.g., individualism/collectivism loose/tight cultures; low-context/high-context communication. However, it should be noted that all cultures exhibit both ends of these continuums. All cultures exist along the entire continuum; therefore, all cultures show similarities in the broader scheme of culture. This broader scheme of culture is in essence human nature, human society, and human culture.
Introduction
Defining culture is a complicated endeavor given its variation across domains and purpose, which is embodied within a historical context. An anthropological definition of culture is “...that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, law, morals, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society” (Tylor1871, p. 1).
