Abstract

From Nicholas of Cusa to Spinoza, intuition is regarded as a form of superior knowledge or immediate insight, whose peculiar object of understanding is usually intended as some universal concept and even as some holistic, divine truth, usually with mystical flavor. In this framework, Cartesian intuitions stand out, since they are regarded as just dependent on the simple and evident nature of their elementary objects, whenever considered under the enlightening power of human mind and double-checked through methodical doubt.
