Definition
Fanned, partly grooved deposit along the slope of some of the Tharsis volcanoes, particularly facing the NW side.
Description and Morphometry
The individual lobes form extensive deposits. Along the marginal steep slope of Olympus Mons, 15 lobes are visible at 340 km distance between 330 and 290°E longitudes (Fig. 1). The deposits are thinning from away the Olympus Mons; their maximal thickness is around 1 km (Milkovich et al. 2006). In Arsia Mons (Fig. 2), Pavonis Mons, and Ascraeus Mons, the deposit are respectively 450, 250, and 100 km long; their width is comparable or slightly greater than the length.
