Abstract
By the time I finished school in 1955 I was already fascinated by a new science that arrived from the West—cybernetics. It is the science of communications and automatic control systems in machines and living things. I attended heated discussions on cybernetics between scientists and philosophers. The latter initially viewed cybernetics as “a reactionary mechanistic theory, which intends to reject modern scientific thought, based on materialistic dialectics,” but their minds were changed quickly. That our particular brand of Marxists were without principles no longer surprised me. The triumph of science and of facts against these shameless hypocrites gave me a special joy. It was the joy of truth trumping lies.
