Abstract
In this Conclusion the editors summarise and reflect on the main learning points from the book’s introductory chapters and 20 case studies before setting out two practical overarching key messages for developing the next generation of sports-based health interventions: firstly, use the evidence base and build the evidence base and secondly, acknowledge the challenges and take a critical approach.
In the section on using and building the evidence base, the editors provide practical advice on applying an evidence-based approach to the design of sport-based health interventions. The section on acknowledging the challenges and taking a critical approach discusses the importance of anticipating potential problems and criticisms of sport-based public health work. The chapter concludes with a set of questions which can be used as a mental checklist when developing new sport-based health interventions.
