Use of fertilizers in citrus growing

  • Chapter
The orange juice business

Abstract

Although there has been an overall decline of 1% in the quantity of fertilizer used throughout the agribusiness in relation to the previous year, in orange farming there was a drop of around 6.3%, reflecting the difficulty faced by growers in recent years, mainly due to the unattractive price and difficult access to credit. Nevertheless, the share in consumption remained stable at 2% of total consumption, behind 11 other crops (Graph 24).
