Abstract

FDI is the focal point of this study. It is therefore important to define what we mean by FDI. In the first section of this chapter we outline different types of FDI and the limitations of official FDI data. We adopt a holistic definition of FDI, which takes into account FDI that does not involve a cross-border capital flow.
