Abstract
There has been much interest in civic and citizenship education over the past 15 years, and much debate about whether citizenship education has an impact on civic engagement. As part of these debates, more and more attention has shifted away from simply asking whether citizenship education ‘works’, and instead asking what type of citizenship education works (Kahne & Sporte, 2008).
