Abstract
The Kyoto Protocol is the first serious international attempt to reverse the current global trend of rising greenhouse gas emissions. The ultimate challenge is to get it ratified. Without ratification, the world’s efforts to combat climate change will be significantly — perhaps irreversibly — set back. Due to the failure to reach an agreement at The Hague, many pundits are already wondering what the next protocol will look like.
