Abstract
This chapter covers QOL research that is life domain specific. The life domains that are covered are consumer, leisure, community, work, family, economic, health, spiritual, and housing. Within each life domain, the focus is on understanding QOL within the confines of that domain. For example, we focus on consumer well being within the consumer life domain. We define the construct based on available conceptualizations. We cite evidence for the effect of consumer well being on overall QOL. We provide the reader with an understanding of the various moderators and mediators of the consumer well-being effect on overall QOL. We go further by describing the factors that influence consumer well being. Then we describe ideas for designing products, services, and programs to enhance consumer well being. We use the same logic in tackling leisure well being, community quality of life, quality of work life, family quality of life, economic well being, health-related quality of life, among others.
