Abstract
Damage from micro-organic attack can be reduced in vegetation by dehydration to a level equivalent to 70% relative humidity. Infestation requires sophisticated control and is responsible for significant loss of protein food. The earliest record of infestation was a flour beetle in Egypt in 2500 B.c. and a later infestation in the tomb of Tutankhamen by biscuit weevil, hump-backed spider weevil and tobacco weevil.
