Sensors for Monitoring and Control of Furnaces, Kilns and Ovens

  • Chapter
Energy Efficiency in Process Technology

Summary

Sensors for videomatic observation, temperature sensors, mass flux sensors and humidity sensors for the application in harsh environmental conditions are described. Literature studies, laboratory and industrial experiments for excisting sensors and new developments in the field of mass flux metering were carried out. The results of these studies are summarized and special emphasis is given to the applicability and the reliable operation of these sensors in furnaces, kilns and ovens, in order to clarify whether these sensors can serve as fast and accurate sensing devices for effective control systems minimizing energy consumption and pollution emission.
