Abstract
A Series of preliminary exercises is designed to provide the beginner with a sound basic training, the groundwork of which must be fully understood; as progress is made,.a steady development in the art of sugar piping will be assured. There is no easy or quick way to success: slow methodical practice is the surest way. Concentrate on every exercise and be sure you are able to execute them with thoroughness before attempting to advance into more difficult or intricate work; simply because a variety of lines look more attractive it does not necessarily mean that this is easier to accomplish. Some work in particular should be practised over and over again, for this forms the basic principle upon which all piping, elementary or advanced, is based.
