Abstract

The problem of environmental security is connected to changes in the natural environment as a result of increased stress and the incidence and consequences of extreme events. One of the major problems of environmental security in The Kyrgyz Republic is radiation security connected with conditions of safe storage and destruction of uranium tailings.

The preliminary results of a radiation survey are presented from an investigation of the public health status in mountain regions of The Kyrgyz Republic, near densely populated areas and ground water reservoirs.
