Abstract
For the analysis of oligosaccharides derived from glycosphingolipids, a method involving pyridylamino (PA) derivatization, normal- and reversed-phase HPLC with fluorescent detection (Hase 1994) after treatment with endoglucoceramidase (Ito and Yamagata 1986) is widely used. In order to characterize structures of the PA-oligosaccharides, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization quadrupole ion trap time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-QIT-TOF MS), which has the capability to perform MSn analysis, has been successfully used (Suzuki et al. 2005).
