Abstract
In Denmark surveillance of patients with familial adenomatous polyposis is coordinated via The Danish Polyposis Register. At present the register includes information about 121 families with 381 patients, of whom 111 have been found as the result of a prophylactic examination. The incidence of colorectal cancer was only 2% in call-up patients versus 67% in patients diagnosed due to bowel symptoms. Since the establishment of the register the survival of polyposis patients has improved significantly.
