Während sich Navigationsgeräte im Automobilsektor bereits als Standard etabliert haben, ist das Angebot mobiler Systeme für den Outdoor- und Freizeitbereich immer noch begrenzt. Da eine neue Generation von GPS bestückten Smartphones, wie das iPhone oder Google Android-Geräte jedoch eine bisher nicht dagewesene Nutzerfreundlichkeit bieten, ist davon auszugehen, dass sich Outdoor Navigationslösungen auch im Freizeit- und Tourismusbereich etablieren werden. Im Gegensatz zur klassischen Straßennavigation gibt es jedoch unterschiedliche Anforderungen an Funktionalität und Benutzeroberfläche einer mobilen Outdoor-Navigationslösung. Auf Basis theoretischer Grundlagen und praktischer Erfahrungen wurde eine Navigationssoftware für den Wanderer und Tourengeher entwickelt. Anhand des outdooractive.com Mobile Client Prototypen werden die Besonderheiten mobiler dynamischer Routenplanung im Outdoor-Kontext aufgezeigt. Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über den aktuellen Stand der Umsetzung und erläutert Vorteile, Limitierungen und Probleme mobiler dynamischer Routenplanung. Zudem werden potentielle Ansätze für zukünftige Forschung und Entwicklungen, sowie Möglichkeiten zur Vermarktung und Integration von lokalen touristischen Inhalten für Tourismusregionen und touristische Dienstleister aufgezeigt.
