Zusammenfassung
Das Wachstum des Luxusmarktes in der Vergangenheit hat zu einer höheren Attraktivität dieses Marktes für Unternehmen geführt, wodurch die Anzahl an Anbietern und Marken zunimmt. Einen Wettbewerbsvorteil kann eine Luxusmarke nur dann erreichen, wenn die (positiven) Teilnutzen die (negativen) Teilopfer übersteigen. Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, den Nutzen, die Opfer und die Markenstärke von Luxusmarken im Vergleich zu Premium- und Basismarken zu analysieren. Dazu erfolgt die Präsentation eines innovativen Bezugsrahmens, der sowohl positive Nutzen als auch negative Opfer berücksichtigt. Die Ergebnisse einer Online-Befragung (n = 624; 712 Markenbeurteilungen) verdeutlichen, dass Luxusmarken dem Konsumenten sowohl erhöhte Teilnutzen stiften als auch erhöhte Teilopfer abverlangen. Ferner bestätigen die Ergebnisse, dass die aus Nutzen und Opfer resultierende Markenstärke von Luxusmarken im Vergleich zu Premiummarken geringer ausfällt. Abschließend werden Implikationen für das Management skizziert sowie einige Grenzen der Studie diskutiert und Ideen für zukünftige Forschung entwickelt.
