Der Gebrauch von Web-Suchmaschinen wie Google nimmt kontinuierlich zu. Allein in Deutschland werden pro Monat mehr als vier Milliarden Suchanfragen auf Google abgeschickt. Neben der wachsenden Nutzung ist auch die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung von Suchmaschinenwerbung in Deutschland in den letzten Jahren signifikant gewachsen.
