Zusammenfassung
Die numerische Simulation motorischer Verbrennungsprozesse stellt ein sehr nützliches Werkzeug in der Motorenentwicklung dar, das heute in breitem Umfang eingesetzt wird. Im Vergleich zur ausschließlichen Durchführung experimenteller Untersuchungen erlaubt die numerische Simulation eine schnellere und kostengünstige Vor-Auslegung motorischer Systeme mit Hilfe umfangreicher Parameterstudien. Die aufwendigeren experimentellen Studien können dann gezielt auf die Bereiche konzentriert werden, die anhand der Berechnungsergebnisse das größte Potential erwarten lassen. Darüber hinaus bietet die numerische Simulation die grundsätzliche Möglichkeit, jede beliebige Prozessvariable zu jedem Zeitpunkt an jedem gewünschten Ort auszugeben. Damit ist eine Datenvielfalt gegeben, die allein mit experimentellen Untersuchungen nicht zu erreichen wäre, die aber für das genaue Verständnis der komplexen Teilprozesse der Gemischbildung und Verbrennung sehr hilfreich oder sogar notwendig ist.
