Zusammenfassung
Zu den Möglichkeiten der Neurostimulation zählen die periphere Nervenstimulation, Rückenmarksstimulation/Hinterstrangstimulation/epidurale Rückenmarksstimulation, Thalamusstimulation, Motor-Kortex-Stimulation, Hypothalamus-Stimulation/Tiefenhirnstimulation sowie die transkranielle Magnetstimulation. Neue Möglichkeiten und Ideen bietet die Neuromodulation in der Schmerztherapie, vor allem bei neuropathischen Schmerzen und zentralen Schmerzen. Neuromodulation ist ein seit den 80er Jahren etabliertes therapeutisches Verfahren zur Behandlung schwerer chronischer Schmerzen und Durchblutungsstörungen. Mit dieser Methode kann die Weitergabe von Nervenimpulsen beeinflusst werden. Im Gegensatz zu Nervendurchtrennungen ist die Methode reversibel.
