Zusammenfassung
Ältere Arbeiten verweisen auf deutliche Zusammenhänge zwischen den Musikpräferenzen von Hörern auf der einen Seite und deren psychischer und körperlicher Gesundheit auf der anderen. Musikgenres wie Metal, Rock oder Alternative werden hierbei unter den Generalverdacht gestellt, Verhaltensauffälligkeiten und psychosomatische Probleme bei Jugendlichen zu verursachen. Allerdings liefern drei eigene Untersuchungen der Autoren keine Hinweise auf schädigende Wirkungen der infrage gestellten Musikgenres für Jugendliche. Stattdessen zeigen die Ergebnisse, dass neben Persönlichkeitsmerkmalen ebenfalls die Musikrezeption bzw. die Anwendung von Musik im Alltag zur Emotionsmodulation hochbedeutsam wird. Im Kontext der hier vorgenommenen Untersuchungen wird zudem gezeigt, dass die Befunde bestehender Studien aufgrund möglicher Stichproben- und Generationseffekte neu bewertet werden müssen.
