Zusammenfassung
Der unabhängige irische Staat wurde 1922 gegründet. Vor dieser Zeit war Irland Teil des Vereinigten Königreiches und die Frage der Professionalisierung der Politik somit in ganz Großbritannien wirkenden Kräften unterworfen. Es existierte eine enge Begrenzung des Wahlrechts und irische Abgeordnete des Unterhauses in Westminster waren zumeist Grundbesitzer oder Geschäftsleute, mit anderen Worten Personen mit erheblichen fmanziellen Ressourcen.
