Zusammenfassung

Die NATO Operation Allied Force war der erste Konflikt der Allianz seit ihrer Gründung vor 50 Jahren. Das politische und humanitäre Ziel dieser NATO-Luftkriegsoperation über Jugoslawien war es, ein Ende von Gewalt und Menschenrechtsverletzungen im Kosovo herbeizuführen und die Rückkehr der albanischen Flüchtlinge zu ermöglichen. Die politischen und humanitären Ziele im Kosovo wurden zu NATO-Bedingungen erreicht. Operation Allied Force war ein Erfolg, auch wenn nicht alle militärischen Aktionen der NATO überzeugten. Erstmals in der Geschichte mündete der ausschließliche Einsatz von Air Power inklusive Präzisionsabstandswaffen sowie satelliten-und luftgestützter Aufklärung, Führung und Kommunikation direkt in ein Friedensabkommen.
