Zusammenfassung
Die Todeslager — Auschwitz, Belzec, Kulmhof, Maidanek, Sobibor, Treblinka — unterscheiden sich nach Raul Hilberg von anderen Konzentrationslagern dadurch, daß in ihnen systematisch durchgeführte, mit industriellen Mitteln betriebene Massentötungen bestimmter Bevölkerungsgruppen — vor allem der Juden — stattfanden, wofür Anlagen gebaut und entsprechende Verfahren entwickelt wurden.1 Zur charakteristischen Form des Mordes wurde das Vergasen, das in Auschwitz-Birkenau aufgrund der Verwendung des Schädlingsbekämpfungsmittels Zyklon B am effizientesten funktionierte. Deshalb kann der Name Auschwitz für alle Todeslager stehen. Wer Auschwitz sagt, meint die Gaskammern. In ihnen geschah das, was dieser Name uns zu erinnern und zu denken aufgibt.

It silently buries the deaths of six million Jews in universal genocide.
