Zusammenfassung

Tumoren der Nasenhöhle oder der nasalen Sinus können verschiedenen zellulären Ursprungs sei. Trotz dieser Unterschiede in der Histopathologie führen sie zu klinisch recht ähnlichen Bildern und werden mit identischen Therapieprotokollen behandelt, unabhängig vom Zelltyp. Histologisch lassen sich jedoch Adenokarzinome und anaplastische Karzinome der Nasenschleimhaut, Plattenepithelkarzinome des nasalen Plattenepithels und Sarkome (Fibrosarkome, Chondrosarkome, Osteosarkome) unterscheiden. Anhand der Histogenese lassen sich geringfügige Unterschiede in der Prognose der Tumoren feststellen. Epitheliale Tumoren sind mit einer medianen Überlebenszeit von 9–13 Monaten assoziiert, während Hunde mit Fibrosarkomen eine durchschnittliche Überlebenszeit von bis zu zwei Jahren zeigen. Lymphome sind der häufigste Tumor der Nasenhöhle bei Katzen (Kap. 6), jedoch selten bei Hunden. Tumoren der Nasenhöhle sind bei anderen Spezies selten, eine Ausnahme bildet der retrovirusinduzierte enzootische Nasentumor (ENT) des Schafs.
