Zusammenfassung

Die negativen Effekte von Tumoren endokriner Organe basieren vor allem auf zwei Eigenschaften, dem Masseneffekt von Primärtumor und Metastasen und zusätzlich in vielen Fällen auf dem systemischen Effekt einer erhöhten oder verminderten Hormonsekretion des Tumors bzw. geschädigten Organs. Tumoren endokriner Organe können deshalb auch wenn sie nur langsam und expansiv wachsen und somit eigentlich „gutartiges Verhalten“ zeigen, durch eine unangemessene Hormonsekretion zur schweren Schädigung des Gesamtorganismus führen. In diesem Kapitel werden wichtige Tumoren der Hypophyse, Nebenniere und Schilddrüse und der β-Zellen des Pankreas besprochen. Tumoren der Hoden und Ovarien, die ebenfalls endokrine Effekte haben können, werden in Kap. 7 beschrieben.
