Zusammenfassung

In diesem Kapitel werden die unterschiedlichen Definitionen und die sozioökonomische Bedeutung der schweren Verletzung aufgeführt. Weiterführend werden die unterschiedlichen Verletzungsmuster, der Begriff der trimodalen Traumaletalität und die aktuell bekannten, relevanten Einflussgrößen für das Überleben nach einem schweren Unfall dargelegt. Hierzu zählen flächendeckende Traumanetzwerke, strukturierte Behandlungsalgorithmen und nachhaltige Ausbildungskonzepte.
