Zusammenfassung
Die Aufgabe des Human Resource Managements besteht darin, arbeitsrelevante Einstellungen (z. B. die Arbeitszufriedenheit oder das Commitment) zu messen (z. B. durch Mitarbeiterbefragungen) und Maßnahmen zur Erhaltung sowie Verbesserung positiver Einstellungen der Mitarbeiter gegenüber der Organisation umzusetzen (z. B. durch Gestaltung des Arbeitsplatzes und der Arbeitsbedingungen, gerechte Lohnsysteme oder die Schulung von Führungskräften). Einstellungen sind immer Bewertungen, die subjektiver Natur sind, also z. B. die individuelle Bewertung des eigenen Arbeitsplatzes, der Führungskraft oder der Kollegen. Hierbei gibt es drei wichtige Eigenschaften, die Einstellungen zu eigen haben: Erstens sind Sie zeitlich relativ stabil, können aber aktiv verändert werden. Zweitens liegen sie auf einem Kontinuum von sehr negativ bis sehr positiv. Drittens beziehen sie sich auf Personen, Objekte, Aktivitäten, gegenüber denen die Person irgendeine Art von Gefühlen oder Überzeugung hat.
