Zusammenfassung

In verhaltenstheoretischen Modellvorstellungen werden selbstschädigende und suizidale Verhaltensweisen als subjektiv sinnvolle — objektiv aber bisweilen nicht nachvollziehbare — Problemlösungsstrategien angesehen, wenn sich eine Person aufgrund einer Streßsituation/Konflikt in einer Situation befindet, in der Auslösebedingungen, Reaktionsalternativen und (mögliche) Konsequenzen der Handlungen nur in einer bestimmten, eingeschränkten Art und Weise wahrgenommen werden. Die suizidale Handlung bleibt dann als einzige (plausible) Handlungsalternative, i.S. einer »Belastungsregulation«, übrig.
