Zusammenfassung
Anfang der 1990er Jahre entwickelte sich in der Managementliteratur ein Diskurs speziell zu Fragen des Managements von Organisationen im Feld der humanitären Hilfe und der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Seitdem wächst die Zahl an Handbüchern und Fachartikeln mit Titeln wie „Non-Governmental Organisations – Performance and Accountability“ (Edwards/Hulme 1995a), „Development and the learning organisation“ (Roper/Pettit/Eade 2003), „NGO Management“ (Edwards/Fowler 2004) oder „The Management of Non-governmental Development Organizations“ (Lewis 2007). Dass das Interesse an diesen Fragen ausgerechnet zu diesem Zeitpunkt einsetzt, wird in der Literatur auf die starken Veränderungen der Bedingungen in diesem gesellschaftlichen Bereich zurückgeführt.
