Zur Politischen Performativität des Abfalls

Zusammenfassung

Dieser Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit den kulturellen Imaginationen, materiellen Effekten und politischen Markierungen des Mülls. Ausgehend von Narrativen der alltäglichen Müllentsorgung und -beseitigung geht es um die Frage, inwiefern Müll als eine Form der Interaktion, als Kategorie von Dingen, aber auch als Denkfigur eine symbolische Ordnung begründet und aufrechterhält. Dabei werden neuere Aushandlungen der Bedeutung von Abfall, beispielsweise in Joshua Renos anthropologischer Arbeit Waste Away (2016) und in Robin Nagles Picking Up (2013) herangezogen. Mit Bezug auf Julia Kristevas Begriff der Abjektion und auf Jacques Rancières Konzept einer Aufteilung des Sinnlichen geht es schließlich um die Frage, wie gerade der Abfall dazu beiträgt, die Welt in Zonen der Bedeutsamkeit und der Zugehörigkeit einzuteilen.
