    „Militants try to make sense of events ignored by mainstream media through discussions with the peers, often on the Internet, which expands their access to relevant information. In a process of self-selection, militant websites may also nurture and reinforce a strongly atypical view of the world, which increases the gap between militants’ understanding of a situation and the rest of society’s understanding of it“ (Sageman 2017: 106).
