Abstract

The following chapter presents an overview of the major concepts and theories utilized in this dissertation. It provides a basic understanding of the research field on family firms in subchapter 2.1., of pay variation in 2.2. and of the combination of both in 2.3. In these chapters, brief definitions of family firm (2.1.1.) and pay variation (2.2.1.) are provided. In the research on family firm subchapter, the SEW concept (2.1.2.), the FIBER model (2.1.3.) and the PSE approach (2.1.4.) are discussed.
