Zusammenfassung
Für die Messung der gesundheitsbezogenen Lebensqualität existieren zahlreiche Instrumente. Manche haben bessere, andere weniger gute psychometrische Qualitäten. Diese Qualitäten sollten aber nicht allein entscheidend sein, wenn man nach dem geeigneten Instrument für ein spezifisches Vorhaben sucht, denn die Wahl des Instrumentes muss in Abhängigkeit von den Zielen und den Gegebenheiten der Fragestellung getroffen werden. Welche Aspekte der Forschungsfrage man bei der Entscheidung für ein Instrument berücksichtigen sollte und welche Eigenschaften eines Instrumentes für eine solche Wahl ausschlaggebend sind, diese Fragen werden im folgenden Beitrag umfassend dargestellt. Es wird darauf hingewiesen, dass die gleichen Instrumente ggf. unterschiedliche Durchführungsverfahren erlauben, die bei der Interpretation der Ergebnisse ausschlaggebend sein können. Schließlich wird auch auf die Problematik der komplementären Interpretation der Ergebnisse verschiedener Instrumente eingegangen. Der Beitrag schließt mit einer Empfehlung zur strukturierten Vorgehensweise bei der Instrumentenwahl.
