Ohne den Einfluss Hegels ist das Werk von Karl Marx (1818–1883) nicht zu verstehen. In der Auseinandersetzung mit Hegels abstraktem Staatsbegriff spitzt Marx seine Thesen zu. Er sieht im Staat lediglich ein Herrschaftsinstrument der Bourgeoisie.
