Urban Governance und „e-Participation“? Innovative Politik in der medialisierten Stadt

Zusammenfassung

Frank Eckardt zeigt in seinem Beitrag, dass sich die Orte und Nicht-Orte des Politischen im Kontext von wissens-, informations- und internetbasierten sowie zunehmend diversitäts- und mobilitätsgeprägten Stadtgesellschaften heute gegenüber modernen Gesellschaften des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts transformiert haben. Dabei dürfe man mediale Innovationen und Revolution nicht mit politischen gleichsetzen, da das Politische häufig weiter auf die Interessen von Wenigen und territorialisiert ablaufe, d. h. heutige ‚global flows‘ von Kapitalien, Menschen und Dingen produzieren nicht notgedrungen eine globalisiertere Politik, sondern vielfach sogar ihr Gegenteil. Diese Entwicklungen haben nach Eckardt auch Auswirkungen auf heutige partizipativ ausgerichtete Stadtplanungsprozesse, wobei die demokratische Erfahrung der Beteiligten durch ihre simultan eingesetzte physische und virtuelle Präsenz eine besondere Ressource für demokratische Gesellschaften sowie ihre durchaus antagonistischen Gegenöffentlichkeiten darstellen könnte
