There are several fundamental problems that have remained unsolved by current BPM approaches (Mendling 2009). Houy et al. (2010) suggested that future research should address how empirical contributions can be condensed in order to support and to expedite the construction of theories in BPM. In addition, the questions of how BPM Systems (BPMS) can be implemented and what business value they can bring are recurring white-spots (Ravesteyn and Batenburg 2010).
