Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag stellt die besondere Nähe des Verantwortungsbegriffs zur teleologischen Ethik heraus. Verantwortung und teleologische Ethik treffen sich in ihrem inhärenten Zukunftsbezug. Außerdem bezieht sich (proaktive) Verantwortung primär auf zu bewirkende Ereignisse und Zustände und nicht primär auf Handlungen. Die teleologische Ethik und ihre meistdiskutierte Form, der Utilitarismus, werden in ihren Grundzügen dargestellt, mit den Haupteinwänden gegen diese Ethikformen konfrontiert und neuere Varianten als Versuche präsentiert, diesen Einwänden gerecht zu werden. Am Ende stehen Überlegungen, wie sich eine teleologische Ethik auf die Zuschreibung von Verantwortung auswirkt.
