Zusammenfassung

Da Veränderung die fundamentale Realität menschlicher Existenz darstellt, lässt sich Gesellschaft besser in Begriffen des „Werdens“ als in solchen des „Seins“ denken (Sztompka 1993a). Allerdings variieren Geschwindigkeit und Sequenz des Werdens. Zuweilen ist seine Geschwindigkeit so gering, dass Gesellschaft als träge, fast stillstehende Struktur erscheint; zu anderen Zeiten ist das Werden graduell und evolutionär, in sehr seltenen Fällen ist es rasant und revolutionär.
