Abstract

My relationship with Prof. Fritz Lipmann has been unique in many respects. During this brief presentation I would like to review with you my personal recollection of seven years, 1946 to 1953, of close association with Fritz Lipmann that will illustrate his unusual creative ability and intellectual capacity which spans a great era of biochemistry and medicine. Lipmann has been called the “scientist’s scientist.” As with other great men, we find in Lipmann that happy combination of mind and soul. Lipmann is a modest, soft-spoken man of great humility who is not only admired and respected for his scientific abilities, but who is loved by his associates for the greatness of his human character.
