Abstract
All the pertinent observations made on the androgen responsiveness of Tfm/Y mice and rats were summarized in Chap. 12. As a result, the X-linked Tfm locus emgerged as the master regulatory gene of the secondary (extragonadal) sex-determining meachanism. It can be recalled that in the primary (gonadal) sex-determining meacanism, it was the master regulatory gene product, H-Y antigen, which was unequivocally identified. What remains to be worked out is the genetics of H-Y antigen expression, in which not only the Y but also the X and possibly also an autosome are involved.
