Abstract

We would like to address an open question on the radiotherapy of non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, the question regarding the tumoricidal dose level that yields permanent eradication of the tumor in a high percentage of cases. Van der Werf-Messing [9] found that in patients with reticulum cell sarcoma and lymphosarcoma, 2000-4000 rad can be sufficient for a local focal dose. We, ourselves, together with Schmidt-Vollmer and Merten [6], found that in patients with reticulum cell sarcoma and lymphoreticular sarcoma, who were treated with 4500 rad and more, only one relapse occurred, and that following a dose of 6000 rad. But there were also many involved regions in our patient group that were controlled with a dose of less than 4500 rad.
