Application of Genetic Algorithms to Structural Design of Composite Materials

  • Conference paper
Computational Mechanics ’95

Abstract

Nowadays the use of the fiber reinforced composites is being increased, because of the fiber reinforced composites have a good mechanical performance such as high strength, lightweight. Fiter reinforced composites have various structural preforms with reinforcement such as unidirectional arranged fibers and woven fabric. So far the laminated composite plates has been widely used as the structural parts. In practical use, however, the design of the laminated composite plate with limited fiber orientation angle is often conducted. In this case, it is nesessary to develop the design which can be found the combination of the design variables efficiency from among the limited fiber orientation angle.
