Abstract

At the beginning of the 1960s, sulfur dioxide and dustfall were still indicators, even more than that, they were the synonyms for air pollution. The variations of the ambient concentrations of these substances over the last 3 decades in the urban-industrialized Rhine-Ruhr area are shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
